SaltyPaws 20 - Wasps 1

Zero is a nice number, and it embodies the exact number of wasps that you would like to have in a bay. However, this was not the number we found in st George Bay, Corfu. Even when anchored 200 meter offshore, the yellow monsters can find SaltyPaws. Both Luny and Tuxy like to swat at them, but this is not enough to deter the wasps. When you know the wasps have set up a traffic control system, it is time to get the defenses organized. Our best defense has been the electrical tennis racket. Arjen was so kind to bring us a new one, as the old one only still lives by the grace of duck-tape. Where the electrical tennis racket instantly kills flies and mosquitoes, it only moderately shocks the yellow jackets. The solution, of course, is to hit hard, keep the zap button pressed, until you manage to drop the wasp in the water. Over the course of the 3 days we spent n the Holy George (Agios Georgios) bay, a steady stream of wasps could be seen, tracing it's way back to the SaltyPaws. Wasp Tennis is a necessary game, when you'd like to keep key areas clear of the black and yellow pests with a sting.

However, one of the wasps struck back. It made a clever maneuver by flying close to the cornflakes bowl, and when I made an extra hard swipe for it, I knocked the spoon overboard instead. This was a small price to pay however, when it comes to keeping the boat wasp free. Tomorrow when the light is better, I will have a snorkel, and if I am very lucky I could perhaps retrieve it. The sun is almost setting now, and wasp air traffic control closes the airspace after dark.
